Paneer Kasoori Methi


Ingredients:

Cottage cheese (Paneer)- 100 gm
Onion- one big, finely chopped
Tomato- one big, finely chopped
Ginger paste- 1/2 tbsp
Garlic paste- 3/4 tbsp
Kasoori methi – 1 – 1.5 tbsp
Coriander powder- 1 – 1.5 tsp
Turmeric powder (Haldi)-  ½ tsp
Cumin powder (Zeera)- 1/2 tsp
Red chili powder as per taste
Cashew nut (Kaju) – 4 -5
Poppy seeds (Posta dana) – 1 tbsp
Tomato sauce – 1-2 tbsp or as per taste
Salt to taste

Directions:

  • Cut paneer into cubes. Fry them till they are golden. Drain them on an absorbent paper to soak away extra oil. Keep the fried paneer aside.
  • Soak poppy seeds and cashew nuts in water, half an hour before the preparation. Make a paste out of it and keep it aside.
  • Fry finely chopped onions  till they turn pink.
  • Add ginger and garlic paste and fry till brown.
  • Add finely chopped tomato. Cook them properly.
  • Make paste of coriander powder, haldi, zeera powder, red chili paste and salt in water.
  • Add paste of spices and fry well.
  • Add kaju and poppy seed paste and stir till it becomes slightly brown .
  • Add crushed kasuri methi .
  • Add little water for the gravy. Also add little tomato sauce.
  • Add pre-fried paneer cubes. Simmer the curry for 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve hot with tandoori roti or parathas.
