Palak (Spinach)

Palak sabji is simple and easy to cook. It is very nutritious and rich source of Vitamins and can be served as a side dish.

Ingredients:

Spinach (Palak)- 250 gm, finely chopped
Onion – 1 big, finely chopped
Green chilies – 2-3
Garlic paste – 2 tbsps
Turmeric (Haldi) –  ½ tsp
Coriander powder (Dhania) – 1 tsp
Garam masala –  ¼ tsp
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Gram flour (Besan) – 1-2 tbsps
Salt to taste
Mustard oil

Directions:

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Fry green chilies.
  • Add chopped onions and fry till they turn pink.
  • Add garlic paste and fry till they turn brownish.
  • Make a paste of all dry powdered masalas in water.
  • Add paste of masalas and fry for a minute.
  • Add chopped palak and mix well.
  • Add water enough to submerge palak.
  • Cover the pan partly and cook on medium heat.
  • Keep mixing in between as the water reduces.
  • When all most all water is evaporated, keep palak aside.
  • Roast besan. Add cooked palak and give it a good mix avoiding any lump formation of besan.
  • Again add 1 tsp of oil and mix properly for 3-4 minutes.
  • Serve hot.
