Moong Dal Pakoda (Yellow Moong Lentil Fritters)


Yellow moong dal - 1/2 cup
Onions, finely chopped - 1/2 cup
Green chili and ginger paste - 1/2 tbsp
Bread crumbs enough for binding
Chaat masala - 1/2 tbsp
Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
Salt as per taste
Cooking oil


  • Wash and soak moong dal in warm water for 6-7 hours. Later, strain out water completely. Leave dal on clean towel for 1-2 hours.

  • Add ginger-green chilli paste, finely chopped onions, chaat masala, garam masala¬† and salt to moong dal. Mix everything well.

  • Now add bread crumbs to moong dal mixture and mix well with your hand. Bread crumbs are added to bind moong dal together so its quantity should be adjusted accordingly.

  • Heat oil in a frying pan on medium high heat.

  • Make small dumplings out of mixture.

  • Add dumplings to the hot oil and fry till golden brown.

  • Serve hot with green coriander chutney.
