Meetha Pulao (Sweet Pilaf)


Ingredients:

Rice – 1 cup
Cloves (Laung) – 2-3
Bay leaves (Tejpatta) – 3-4, small
Cumin seeds (Zeera) – 1 tsp
Black pepper powder (Kali mirch) as per taste
Sugar – 3- 4 tsp
Water – 1½ cup
Salt to taste
Ghee for cooking

Directions:

  • Wash rice, drain the water and keep aside for 30 minutes.
  • Heat ghee in pan.
  • Fry cloves and bay leaves
  • Add cumin seeds and fry till the seeds stop spluttering.
  • Add sugar .
  • The moment the sugar turns brown immediately add drained rice and fry for 2-4 min.
  • Add salt and black pepper.
  • Add water and cover the pan and cook on low heat till done.
  • Keep stirring the mixture in between.
  • Serve hot with any of your favorite curry.
