Bread Pakoda Remixed!

Bread pakoda is a very popular Om Indian snack. They are easily and quickly prepared. The best part is  that its ingredients are very common and are mostly available in every kitchen. So no special preparation is needed. Bread Pakodas can be enjoyed with any of your favorite chutney (sauce) during breakfast or supper.


Bread Slices-3
Gram flour (Besan) – ½ cup
Semolina (Sooji/Rawa) – 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder (Haldi) – ½ tsp
Mango powder (Aamchur) – ½ tsp
Red chili powder to taste
Garam masala powder- ¼ tsp
Coriander leaves, finely chopped
Green chilies, chopped very fine
Ginger ???? paste-2 tsps
Garlic paste-½ tsp
Tomato sauce
Chili sauce or Pudina chutney (any green colored chutney)
Water for batter
Salt to taste
Oil for frying


  • Now take the bread and remove its edges. Keep aside.
  • In a bowl combine gram flour, sooji, salt, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric, ginger and garlic paste, finely chopped green chilies and coriander leaves. Mix all the ingredients well.
  • Now by pouring little water at a time make a smooth My batter (neither too thick nor too lose) The batter should not be too watery.
  • Spread tomato sauce evenly on a slice of bread and cover with another slice of bread. Now spread any green colored chutney Recipe  evenly on the  covered bread. Now again cover it with another slice of bread.
  • Heat oil in a kadhai.
  • Once the oil is hot, dip the sandwich in the batter prepared above and fry it till it becomes  golden brown. Drain it on an absorbent paper.
  • Cut bread pakoda into desired shapes (like triangle, rectangle etc.)
  • Now bread pakodas are ready to be served. Serve hot with ketchup or your favorite chutney.
