Atta Ka Halwa (Wheat Flour Halwa)


Wheat flour (Atta)  – ½ cup
Ghee –  2 tbsps
Sugar – ½ cup
Water –  3/4 cup
Sliced Almonds (Badam) – 2 tbsps


  • Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in a non stick pan. Using non stick pan not only reduces the amount of ghee required in the preparation but also prevents sticking of halwa at the base of the pan.
  • Add atta  and stir until it is light brown. Constantly stir it to ensure even browning. Make sure that you dont burn atta.
  • Add water followed by sugar and stir quickly to prevent lump formation.
  • After adding water you attain a paste like thing. At this stage you can add another spoon of ghee.
  • Keep stirring the halwa till it becomes dry and a bit darker.
  • Garnish with sliced almonds and serve hot.
