Aloo Gobhi Masala (Spicy Potato Cauliflower)


Potatoes (medium in size) : 3, peeled and chopped into small cubes
Cauliflower: 1 cup, cut into small florets
Ginger paste – 2 tbsps
Garlic paste – 2 tbsps
Onion (big in size) : 1,  finely chopped
Tomato (medium in size)  : 1, finely chopped
Green chilies : 3-4, finely chopped
Cumin seeds (Zeera): ½ tsp
Turmeric(Haldi): 1 tsp
Coriander leaves : finely chopped
Coriander powder (Dhania): ½ tbsp
Garam masala : ½ tbsp
Salt as per taste
Cooking oil


  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
  • Add zeera seeds and let it splutter.
  • Add potatoes pieces and cauliflower florets and fry them till they turn golden brown. Keep the fried vegetables aside.
  • Again heat little oil in a pressure cooker.
  • Add green chilies.
  • Add finely chopped onions and cook till they are  brown.
  • Add ginger – garlic paste and fry till it turns brown.
  • Add turmeric powder, coriander powder and  salt.
  • Add finely cut tomatoes and cook till it completely softens up.
  • Add pre-fried vegetables and mix them well in the gravy.
  • Depending on the consistency of the gravy you wish, add some water.
  • Add garam masala.
  • Pressure cook the curry.
  • Garnish with green coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with poori.
